Matthew 6:31-32

The Big Idea

The disorder of our daily life is a product of the disorder of our innermost beings. We run after things because something inside us is not at rest. Busyness isn't the real problem — it's a symptom. We're trying to fill an inner emptiness with outer achievements, and it never works. You get the car, the house, the promotion, the degree — and you're still empty. Life becomes a treadmill: you run and run, but you never arrive. Even the prophet Elijah, a faithful servant of God, found himself running from his past, depleted, and asking God to take his life. Jesus offers a different way. He doesn't say 'run faster' or 'try harder.' He says, 'Come to me, and I will give you rest.' Real rest begins not when you slow down your schedule, but when you surrender your soul to the One who knows what you need.

Fruit Focus

Peace — the deep, settled rest that comes from trusting God as your Father who already knows what you need.

Talk It Through

1

What are you currently 'running after' in your life? Be honest — what do you hope it will give you?

2

Elijah was physically, emotionally, and spiritually depleted. Have you ever experienced that kind of burnout? What led to it?

3

The message says 'the disorder of our daily life is a product of the disorder of our innermost being.' Do you agree? What does your outer busyness reveal about your inner state?

4

Why is it so hard to accept Jesus' invitation to rest? What keeps you from coming to Him when you're weary?

5

What would it look like this week to 'be still' before God instead of running to the next thing?

6

Where in your life do you need to stop running and start trusting?

7

How can you tell the difference between healthy productivity and destructive busyness?

Simple Daily Action

Spend 5 minutes each morning in silence before God. No phone, no agenda — just sit and acknowledge His presence. Let Him remind you that He knows what you need.

Power Reminder

You don't have to run to be loved. Your heavenly Father already knows what you need — and He's already running toward you.
