Day 1 of 14
2 Corinthians 5:17
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come."
Supporting Verses:
- 1 Corinthians 1:2 - To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints together with all those who in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ
- Ephesians 1:3 - Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places
- Galatians 6:15 - For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation.
- Ephesians 4:22-24 - Put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life... and put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
Your position is now in Christ. When you accept Jesus, you become a new creation - the old has passed away and the new has come. This isn't just about being 'fixed up' - you are fundamentally transformed. Your identity is no longer defined by your past, your mistakes, or your circumstances, but by your position in Christ. You are sanctified, set apart, chosen, and part of a royal priesthood.
Reflection Questions:
- 1.What does it mean to be 'in Christ' rather than simply believing in Christ?
- 2.How does understanding your position as a 'new creation' change how you view your past?
- 3.What 'old things' do you need to recognize have passed away?
Application:
Write down three specific areas where you're still living as if the 'old' hasn't passed away. Declare over each one: 'In Christ, I am made new in this area.'
Prayer Focus:
Thank God for placing you in Christ and making you a new creation. Ask Him to help you see yourself as He sees you.
